How to connect MATLAB with Microsofot Project 2007

I need to use MATLAB (R2014a) in-built functions to manipulate parameters of a few tasks in Microsoft Project (MSP) 2007 file and then retrieve some results from the manipulated MSP file back to MATLAB.

Can somebody provide some insight into how this API connection can be made?
