Please guide me where to put this post if this is not the right place to ask this question.
After software development another challenge is make the user understand our software and use it properly and get the maximum out of it. I here considers that we have done all thing required things to make the application very intuitive already, but it sometime we will have to explain at least once how to use the software and what all things will happen when you do this etc. Of-course we can create user manual, presentation, videos, help documentation etc.
Our customer however looking something better than "Microsoft Narrator" which instead of just reading the label it should guide the user with detailed explanation either in the form of audio, video, text overlay window, simulation in actual software like typing a sample name in the text box or choosing a menu item etc. These simulation should also be stoppable and user can continue doing some action till he is stuck or unsure after which user can take help of guide software should help the user from that point own wards.
I have seen interactive programming tutorial in our some of the sites like khanacademy and w3schools and there can be many others, however not on any user product.
Does anybody knows if such software tool exists? Open source would be a better choice. If not any information and advice or ideas regarding the same will help me in making one myself will also will help. I am currently looking for windows application only.
